In 1934, the Bata company penetrated the local market with the export of 13,000 pairs of shoes, and Bata shoes gained a strong position here. In 1937, one Bata store was in operation. Their number had risen to two by 1947. Later on, the sale of shoes was managed by Bata Shoe Belize (1978).
