In 1935, the Bata company got into the local market with the export of 8,000 pairs of shoes and Bata shoes gained a strong position here. In 1937, 1 corporate store was in operation there, 2 stores in 1938, and by 1947 their number had risen to 3. In the following years, the corporate business on the island continued – French Guiana, Cayenne (1992).
